Historique de l’école « Houssaini Memorial School » de Tuléar par ‘Aun ‘Ali bhây Lâljee

D’après Al-Hâj ‘Aun ‘Ali Ismâ’ïl Lâljee, ancien Vice-Président de la Jamât de Tuléar, tout commença en 1951 lors du passage à Tuléar de ‘Ali bhây Hirjee. Ce dernier fit le "premier pas" en allant vers les membres de notre Jamât dans la Mosquée même afin de leur proposer d’ouvrir une école gérée par notre propre communauté. Par la suite, c’est Hâji Ismâ’ïl Lâljee qui prit l’initiative de construire cette école où l’enseignement se ferait donc en Goujrâti et en français. Pour ce faire, Ismâ’ïl bhây réunit les membres de la Jamât de Tuléar afin de les sensibiliser à participer financièrement à ce noble projet et afin de pouvoir réunir les fonds nécessaires au lancement des travaux de construction. Chacun participa suivant ses possibilités.

Notre Jamât acheta alors avec Youssouf ‘Ali bhây Karim un terrain qui se trouvait à Tanambao pour la somme de 500.000 Fmg. La construction débuta sous la surveillance de Ismâ’ïl bhây et de Hâji Qâssam ‘Ali Dâyâ (Kadaya). En 1953, Hâji Kadaya décéda et Ismâ’ïl bhây continua seul la supervision des travaux de construction jusqu’à la finition des gros œuvres. En 1956, ce fut au tour de Ismâ’ïl bhây de quitter ce monde éphémère. La relève du suivi des travaux de finition fut alors assurée par Bahâdour ‘Ali bhây Ahmad Jivâ, qui termina la partie du rez-de-chaussée : la construction de ce rez-de-chaussée coûta au total 5.000.000 Fmg à la Jamât.

La Jamât loua alors trois compartiments comme magasins de ventes au loyer mensuel de 10.000 Fmg, et les autres compartiments étaient donc destinés à l’ouverture de notre école. Notons que les fondations de ce nouveau bâtiment étaient conçues pour un étage.

En 1972, Rajab ‘Ali bhây Qâssam ‘Ali Râmjee fit une levée de fonds pour pouvoir construire une partie de l’étage dans le but d’ouvrir une école nommée « Houssaini Memorial School ». À l’ouverture de cette école, il y avait une trentaine d’élèves des classes 8ème et 9ème qui la fréquentaient. Mais par la suite, l’école n’arrivant plus à supporter ses frais de fonctionnement, la Jamât de Tuléar se fit le devoir de venir à sa rescousse et de la subventionner à hauteur de ses dépenses.

En 1975, la Jamât de Tuléar mit en place un comité de bénévoles afin de mieux gérer cette école. Ce comité comprenait les notables suivants :

• Hassan ‘Ali Wali
• Ghoulzâr ‘Ali Bahâdour ‘Ali Bardây

• Riâz Soundarjee
• Fidâ-Houssain Sh. Dïn-Mohammad
• Wali Mohammad Houssain Sharif

Les membres de ce comité prirent la responsabilité d’assumer le fonctionnement de l’école avec un statut sous couvert de notre Jamât et agréé par le Gouvernement malgache, et avec comme dénomination « Collège Houssaini Memorial School ». Ils contactèrent aussi le Frère canadien Albanel de la mission catholique, qui était directeur de l’école Sacré Cœur de Tuléar et qui accepta de les aider à diriger l’enseignement avec des professeurs nationaux. C’est à partir de ce moment que des classes allant de la 12ème à la 2nde furent ouvertes. Le nombre d’élèves passa alors de 30 à 400.

Grâce à son bon fonctionnement, l’école arrivait aussi à subvenir à ses propres besoins financiers. Son écolage étant à la portée de tous, elle commença à être fréquentée par des enfants d’origines diverses, indiens, malgaches, chinois, français, si bien qu’elle devint un établissement cosmopolite !
La deuxième moitié de l’étage fut construite par les fonds propres de l’école même, sous la surveillance de ‘Aun ‘Ali bhây Ismâ’ïl Lâljee.

Cette historique remonte jusqu’en 1980. Actuellement, le « Collège Houssaini Memorial School » fonctionne très bien. Plus de 1.000 élèves fréquentent ce collège de nos jours, et c’est Mr Ashiq Mohammad ‘Ali Ghoulâm-Houssain de notre communauté même qui en est le directeur…
